Thomas's lifestyle cake smash session
I’ve been wanting to do a cake smash on a kitchen counter for months, so when Hanna got in touch about doing Thomas’s cake smash the first thing I asked about was their kitchen. And look at it! It was perfect, with lots of windows, tons of light, a beautiful marble island and very Marie Kondo countertops.
We hung out in the living room for a bit, playing with Thomas and his favourite toys, getting in some snuggles with Mom and Dada and capturing everybody together. Then we headed in to the kitchen where Mom had set up his big Thomas the train toys with matching balloons and a hat he had zero interest in.
We laughed as he shovelled cake in, getting the actual messiest I’ve ever seen a baby get during a cake smash. Sometimes babies are afraid of the cake, some of them hesitate, some will only try a taste, some won’t go near the thing at all. Not Thomas! He fed his dad, insisted on cutlery and water breaks, and was just generally hilarious.
Then mom popped him in the sink for a wash, and he was hypnotized by the running water. He was even distracted enough for Hanna to style his hair in to a little faux hawk!
