M & J in a winter wonderland with their three year old

So Dad called me up and said he wanted to surprise his wife with a gift certificate for family photos for her birthday! We were talking about all kinds of locations and then had to accept that there is nowhere more beautiful or more them than their own backyard; these three live in a nature lovers paradise. Our hike through the forest behind their house led us to a maple syrup shack, an old log cabin, a treasure trove of canoes and the loveliest little dock on a very cold lake. Then we went inside and warmed up with some hot chocolate by the fireplace with their beautiful dog. It was a location that couldn't be beat!
